Group Agreements for Participants
Z
We will avoid interruptions.
Z
When someone is struggling to find a word, we will only supply a word when the person sharing indicates they want help finding a word.
Z
We will actively listen and hear what each person has to say.
Z
We agree that confidentiality is imperative. “What happens in group stays in group.”
Z
If a participant would like to refer someone to the group, they will let the group facilitator know, so a private meeting may be arranged.
Z
We will avoid side talking and cross talking. For example, if I don’t hear what someone said, I will ask them to repeat it rather than asking my neighbor what they said. I will ask questions of the speaker, rather than my neighbor.
Z
We will treat everyone with kindness, respect and dignity. We will avoid judgmental words and tone of voice
Z
We will not ask for or give medical, legal, or other advice. Providing information and education is not advice.
Z
We will avoid discussions of politics, religion and death during our meetings.
